SEPTEMBER 1, 2009

Introductions

>       Welcome announcement from Traci Landry, SAA President

>       Each attendee introduced themselves to the group

 

Constitutional Update

>       Discussed the need to review/update by-laws

>       Set up committee to address by-laws issues and present proposed edits at Sept. 29 SAA mtg

>       Committee: Traci Landry, Lee Evans, Matthew Dearing, Megan Bednarczyk, Kelli Close

 

Filled Open SAA Positions – Yea!

>       Historian/Photographer: Jamie Fitzgerald – Will take pictures at SAA events

>       Catering Manager: Janise Wertz – Will coordinate F&B for monthly meetings

 

Sept. 22 Italian Dinner Nite

>       Event Coordinator: Janise Wertz – To coordinate ordering lasagnas and which SAA team members will be cooking them

>       Denise Malivuk to email announcement on behalf of SAA asking people to RSVP and list food/beverage they’re bringing

>       Decided we’ll charge $1/person (allowing for larger donations)

>       Alphabet list for pot-luck portion: A-H to bring a side dish (salad, bread, etc.); I-Q to bring drinks; R-Z to bring a dessert

>       Lacey Parks to create flyer and have it posted throughout RVU

 

SAA Online Presence/Communications

>       Committee: Benjy Schirm, Ashley Lewandowski, Lee Evans

>       Committee will work together to keep our Facebook page and website edited and updated

 

Membership Business

>       Roster – Formal roster of SAA members w/ each team member’s name + signature due to national office this month. Denise Malivuk to email announcement to all SAA contacts asking them to officially register themselves by signing roster, which will be posted on RVU cafeteria bulletin board.

>       SAA Dues – Decided we want to avoid having to charge annual dues. Will fund raise and ask for donations to come up with the $5/person fee due to national office. Lacey Parks to confirm how much money is available in current budget to put towards dues.

 

Fund Raisers

>       Traci Landry to get proposal from photographer friend for review at next (Sept. 29) meeting / distributed photographer brochures and biz cards to meeting attendees / possible holiday fund raiser – Wigglesworthphoto.com

 

Interest Groups/Clubs

>       The list of names of those who signed up / expressed interested in the various interest groups and clubs (from the Club Fair) was distributed to meeting members.

>       Discussed approx. ½ of the groups: Non-Profit/Service; Hug Crew; Play Groups (during week + weekends); Athletics & Recreation; and new idea suggested – Weekenders Club

>       Club Chairs were nominated and/or volunteered to spearhead some activities – Club Chairs will be listed on our website, on our Facebook page and in future email blasts as the contact for more info about each group.

o   Play Groups – Week Day Group: Kristina Kelly; Weekend Group: Traci Landry

o   Athletics & Recreation – Jamie Fitzgerald to organize an SAA team for Oct. 11 Run the ‘Rocks 5k race

o   Weekenders Club: Kate Lewandowski to organize a weekend activity for SAA members and their students before an exam; help alleviate stress

>       Denise Malivuk to 1) confirm club chairs, 2) email each club chair the list of names of those interested in their club, and 3) email blast to all SAA members announcing club chairs giving contact info so people can reach them directly for more info
